Contemporary Dance: Beginning

This class is offered Through St. Louis Community College and requires registration through the college for all new students. Students of other aTrek classes, who are pre-approved by the teacher and/or have taken this class before may drop-in or take classes on a pay as you go basis or use a pre-purchased class card.

Class Description: This beginnig level contemporary dance class is taught by aTrek collective artist Geoffrey Alexander and
will combine modern, ballet, and jazz techniques with hip hop influences.  Along with focusing on musicality, rhythm, and isolation, dancers will be challenged to bring  rawness and individualized artistry to traditional dance technique

Dress Code: Recommended apparel includes fitted work-out pants, fitted t-shirts, tank tops, leggings, bike shorts, etc.  Leotards and tights are not required. Class will be taught barefoot, but students may opt to wear jazz shoes or other soft-soled shoe.

Registration: This class is taught by aTrek collective artists Geoff Alexander but is offered through St. Louis Community College, Continuing Education. The class is subject to cancellation prior to the first day of class if it does not meet minimum enrollment requirements. If you plan to take this class regularly please register through St. Louis Community College by filling out an application and mailing or faxing it (314-644-9918 fax).
